Journalism as a complementary subject

Since the 2001/2002 winter semester, journalism can be studied as one of two complementary study units within the new Bachelor of Applied Cultural Studies and Bachelor of Applied Literary and Cultural Studies programmes. Both interdisciplinary study programmes conclude after six semesters with graduates obtaining a Bachelor of Arts (BA), with the option to continue their studies with Master of Arts (MA) programme.

Within the journalism unit, students can take part in introductory courses and in training newsrooms. However, the one-year journalism traineeship (Volontariat) is not part of the study programme.
